Axiom propeller trial findings - Alan Watts, inventor
• Tiller operation a lot smoother and not so much of a fight too move. • Reverse on the ball nearly half the stopping time and next to no prop walk. A big improvement. • Less wash produced all round particularly at the bow at normal canal cruising speed one bow wave disappeared. The stern does not dig in us much about 3 inches on average but does vary on water depth keeping the boat sitting flatter on the water. • A lot quieter inside the boat when cruising (gravely noise no longer present) • Passing moored boats – moored boats are not moved on there mooring ropes as much (if at all at the right speed) which gives over time a better average speed over ground. • When going through bridge holes with marine screw the water would form into waves at the rear of the boat and the stern would dig right in, this does not happen with the axiom the boat slows a little but does not create extra wash or dig the stern in. • Going through tunnels is a lot easier and smoother as the rear of the boat is not constantly being sucked to the wall. Also after passing a boat in the tunnel it is easier to return to the centre channel without getting stuck(sucked onto the wall). • I have not noticed any cavatation and the shudder you get through the boat with it as it cavitates. On larger waters with larger craft washe she performed at a more constant speed. • My feeling is it is more efficient on fuel but as you know hard to prove (but I am sure we will in time)
