Yachting Monthly - May 2009

In an article entitled The Ultimate Propeller Test, Emrhys Barrell and the YM team set out to compare 15 propellers for speed, thrust, drag, stopping distance, prop walk and price. The test attempted to find the best folding or feathering propeller on the market since concluding in a previous edition that a fixed three bladed prop will exert as much drag on your boat as hanging a bucket over the stern. As a fixed 3 blade, why I hear you ask include the Axiom Propeller among these feathering props? “A radical new development in fixed propellers”, the Axiom was included in the trial as a “benchmark” against which to compare these various new products. The Axiom faired well amongst these dissimilar products, taking poll position twice (with the lowest percentage prop walk and lowest stoppage time from 6 knots) and making third in the astern bollard pull. We’re very grateful to the editors of Yachting Monthly for choosing the Axiom as their benchmark fixed blade prop.
